The Christmas Champ in All of Us

You know the Christmas Champ, right? She’s the crazy character that starred in all the holiday Target 2-Day Sale commercials — a caricature that pokes fun at all of us Christmas perfectionists, letting us know that as serious as we are about handmade holiday cards and flawlessly-decorated Christmas cookies, there’s still room to laugh at ourselves. She is absolutely, positively over-the-top hilarious. And if you don’t know who I’m talking about, then you’ve got to see her for yourself. Here are my two favorite Christmas Champ videos.

So I’m not gonna lie. I have a little Christmas Champ in me. My obsession is with holiday wrapping paper. There, I said it. I’m picky about my paper. The 99-cent bin at Walgreens just won’t do. I prefer The Container Store’s Gift Wrap Wonderland, where there are anything but bins — but perfectly stacked and organized storage mechanisms that display more than just wrapping paper, but bows and ribbon and gift tags, oh my.

I moseyed sprinted on over to The Container Store’s Gift Wrap Wonderland some time around the second week of December. (Because let’s face it, I just couldn’t contain myself any longer. Ha!) After pacing the aisles for about 20 minutes and getting strange looks from the employees after I had passed the same display about 19 times, I finally made a selection of three shiny wrapping paper rolls and headed home in utter satisfaction. (Translate utter satisfaction as you will — squealing with delight, jumping in the air, dancing in the street or all of the above.)

Then, last Sunday, I spent four straight hours in wrap mode with The Bear.

I like to think he enjoys the shiny bright colors and sound of shears sliding against ribbon as much as I do.

So how do you channel your inner Christmas Champ?
